Following Jesus
Jesus is worth following. People have done it for the past 2000 years, all over the world, across all different cultures.
We’d love to chat with you about following Jesus together.
Alpha Course
The Alpha Course is 12 weeks long and creates a space for conversation about life, faith and Jesus.
Each session starts with dessert and a catch-up on the week, followed by a short DVD (check out a preview here) and conversation.
Alpha is refreshing, relaxed and relational. People find they come away with food for thought, great connections and often an increased sense of hope.
Alpha is perfect for those who are sitting on questions about life and faith and would appreciate a safe environment to explore them with others who are keen to do the same.
Our next course is starting soon – get in touch if you’re interested!
Reading the Bible
Discovery Bible Method is a simple, yet powerful way to study the Bible by yourself, with another person, or with a whole group! You can choose a book in the Bible or different scriptures around a theme – it’s up to you. Simply pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you, then follow the 5 Rs and see what happens.
Baptism
Baptism is a time where you publicly share your decision to follow Jesus. South West Baptist comes alive when people get baptised! It’s one of the most important things we do as a church and the cause for much celebration.
Put simply, we love seeing people going deeper in their relationship with Jesus and making a commitment to belong to this community of faith at South West.
If you’ve made the decision to be a follower of Jesus, then baptism is the next step. It is a way to join the family of believers and often is a time when people have a significant encounter with God. At South West we believe it’s an important part of the journey of transformation with God.
If you’re interested in baptism, have a read through our baptism booklet, or get in touch.
Child Dedication
We also dedicate children. Dedicating children to God is a number of things: an acknowledgement of thanks and gratitude to God for the gift of your child; a public testimony of your commitment to raising your child in a way that honours God and honours the child; an outward expression of an inward desire to grow the faith of your child to a stage where they are able to make their own commitment to follow Jesus as their Saviour; acknowledgement of the parents’ responsibility before God to develop a home life conducive of love and security; and a chance to be prayed for so that all these things might happen!
If you would like to have your child(ren) dedicated, get in touch and we can arrange the details or talk some more.
